Federal government shutdown: U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has notified states that November Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits will not be issued if the government shutdown continues. SNAP participants will not have access to any new benefits starting on November 1 unless the government is reopened.
Additionally, major changes are coming to the SNAP program starting December 1.
