We are thrilled to announce that Feeding Illinois is a candidate to receive $50,000 through the Walmart Associate Choice Program. Walmart and Sam's Club associates can vote for Feeding Illinois starting June 30, 2012 through August 6, 2012 on www.mywalmart.com and they will determine the recipient of the award. The Walmart Associate Choice award will help support Feeding Illinois' mission to provide a healthy and adequate food supply to those in need. 
Our partnership with Walmart has already accomplished so much for those experiencing hunger in Illinois. Walmart stores donated almost 14 millions of pounds of retail products in 2011 to the eight food banks that make up Feeding Illinois – almost half of all retail donations to the network in 2011. In addition, Walmart has awarded multiple grants directly to Feeding Illinois and network food banks and agencies. These have helped to provide food, fund learning and outreach programs, and even purchase much needed trucks to deliver food to Illinois communities.
We need your help to spread the word to your local Walmart and Sam Club’s stores and volunteers to vote for Feeding Illinois.
How you can help:
- Do you have any Walmart and Sam Club’s groups or individual volunteers coming to your food bank or agency between now and August 6? Please mention the Walmart Associate Choice Program and ask for their vote for Feeding Illinois.
- Mention the Walmart Associate Choice Program on your website and social media pages. Over the next several weeks we will be posting messages on Facebook and Twitter. Please consider sharing these with your followers.
- Post and distribute this flyer about the Walmart Associate Choice Program and Feeding Illinois. The flyer would be great to hand out to any Walmart or Sam Club’s employees you come in contact. Please do not distribute these at Walmart or Sam Club’s stores.
